It's so crazy. I came to the 'Whee to avoid snow. I don't like it. It's cold and wet, neither of which make me very happy. But here I am, sitting in Sean's room, watching it snow for the second time in three days. Granted, right now it's really just some fine stuff, but it's enough to already be sticking. And I was really looking forward to making a pie tonight. Stupid weather; always ruining my plans.
Not that snow is all that bad. It's just annoying. It's not like rain; that doesn't mess up plans. But anything that can cause icy mess to form is a total mood killer. We were planning to go for a walk this morning. That didn't happen. Oh well. Now I'm stuck just sitting here, watching it snow while Sean reads more nursing stuff. Seriously, I'm so glad that I'm in the Criminal Justice and Sociology and Spanish programs.

More snow

Here goes nothing...
So, I totally have a xanga account, but I don't really like the way it works. This makes so much more sense to me. Regardless of that, I really need a place to just throw out all the randomness that goes on in my head on a regular basis, and I'm not so good at keeping up with paper journals. Typing works so much better for me.
I feel like such a loser. Here it is, after midnight on a Friday night (Saturday morning?), and I'm sitting alone in my suite. I haven't even heard people out in the hallways. It's rather lonely. Of course, I guess I should be getting used to it. After all, I've been alone most evenings this week. At least after BSU and stuff have ended. It's just so different than how things used to be. Seriously. My first two years, there were very few nights when I wasn't hanging out with people. And now, I love my hall, I really do, but there just aren't people around. Some of my greatest memories from freshman year are when I would just be hanging out around the pool table with the guys, or watching a movie with the RAs on duty, or just joking around with people. I miss random Waffle House trips, even if it is a disgusting place.
A big part of what has happened is that my circle of friends has gotten smaller. I don't think it's a bad thing, because I'm still really close to those that I'm always with, but I don't have those random people I can just go up to. Well, I guess I could go play video games with the guys down the hall, but people tend to not want the RA to come hang out with them. Especially on the weekends. And maybe tonight I'm just down, because Sean was in the building, and texted me when he went back to his room. I mean, is it so much to ask that he could have at least just swung by and told me goodnight? The funny thing is, tomorrow it won't even matter to me, but tonight, that hurts. But I can cut him slack, because his week has sucked. Nursing school is not something I could even imagine putting myself through.
But it happier, more upbeat news, I'll be working with Drs. Brown, Briggs, and Mason on the grant project. I'll do an Independent Study this semester, an internship this summer, and Applied Research next fall. Dr. Brown even said that she would be willing to work with me on writing a paper and getting it published. That's a BIG deal. Especially as an undergrad. And this is a project that will get me out in the field, doing real research, and it will benefit western North Carolina. Without going into all of the details (mainly because I don't know them all), this is a major deal. It's $4 million from the federal government.
So now, I'm going to get in bed and hope that I wake up in a better mood. I've become such a social person. I'm not handling well being on my own. I need friends around!! (I don't like big crowds, just having someone to talk to besides my fish since 7:00 tonight)
